In light of all the Hogwarts Legacy Drama I have decided that instead of spending my valuable time and energy arguing with people still playing the game, I will instead educate myself on Jewish, Trans, and Scottish Independence Supportive charities.

I may not be able to fight J.K. Rowling's hoards of loyal fans, but I can be kind. And I know there's nothing she would hate more than me being kind to communities she despises.

Please, be kind to one another. If you feel frustrated that you can't stop people from supporting her hate, then fight with kindness instead. Support one another, support your Jewish and Trans friends. And do what little you can, even if it's only spreading awareness.

through various circumstances beyond your control, you are being forced to add a minimum of one extra eye to your body. the entity (probably wizard or warlock) forcing this upon you is nice enough to give you a choice.

what do you do?

just one discreet eye on an easily-covered part of my body. like a coward

another pair above/under my existing eyes

one or both hands. like a video game boss or that pale dude from pan's labyrinth

third eye on forehead. classic

i’m going all in. give me a bunch all over my body

a different, funnier option (elaborate in tags)

a different, more horrifying option (also elaborate in tags)

note: the eye/s will by default look like your pre-existing eyes, same color and shape, unless you come up with something cool enough to convince the wizard/warlock to put in the extra effort to fulfill your design desires. i.e. giving you the pupil of a goat, making your iris purple, making the eye insanely large, etc. make your plea in the tags if you so wish.

i chose the first mainly cuz i want an eye on the back of my head that be fun

early discussion notes:

1: y'all 'USB stick' truthers are gonna have to update your worldviews for the age of USB-C, you realize

calling these second-grade-reading-level terms 'fancy words' is a pretty hard self-own dude

The differences are that the jumpdrive/thumbdrive/USB dongle goblin specifically refer to USB flash drives.

most ppl call it a flash drive????? everyone around me has always called em thumbdrives wild

But it does.

It does… one at a time.  It’d be useful to be able to select more than one. G&T but not higher, M&E only, everything but E for those who just don’t like smut. (btw I just checked and there is none of the exclusion filters showing on the search page at least in my computer)

AO3 does ‘and’ filters.

You don’t filter for M&E. You filter for not the other stuff.

I have never seen so many users clearly baffled by and too skittish to push buttons/toggles that are very clearly meant to be used.

If a trusted website has a button and you don’t immediately know or understand what it does, push it. Check out every drop down, every link, every configuration imaginable. Be adventurous. Fuck around and find out. If it breaks the website, they shouldn’t have had that button in the first place. Not on you. Indulge your curiosity instead of complaining it doesn’t do something it absolutely does if you poke around a little.

You’re not going to get a bad grade in filtering by using interface features from AO3, I promise.

mercurialkitty

Look, there are library systems that don’t have filters as good as AO3. You have to learn how to use Boolean operators (AND OR NOT) and construct a proper query to exclude in several academic databases, and AO3 just performs “NOT” for you by clicking a button.

Do you know how many grad students would love to have the kind of power you have with AO3 in filters?
